Dear Mr. Wang,
We students have different opinion on the two periods of oral English a week arranged for us Grade
One students.
About 30% students are for the idea. They say that we can learn standard English and improve
ourselves in spoken English in the long run. What' s more, this is a good chance for us to know more
about foreign countries.
However, most students, about 70%, don' t think it a good idea to have a foreign teacher in our class
just because we are high school students who are too busy with our lessons. Besides, it doesn' t mean
every foreigner will certainly speak good English. Just think, do all Chinese speak Putonghua well? In
addition, we don' t need to spend too much time on oral English, which hasn' t been included in the
college entrance examinations so far.
As far as I' m concerned, to be frank, I’d like to have one period per week instead of two.
