  美国明尼苏达大学的科学家最近报告说,维生素E有中和对人体有害的胆固醇的作用。

  受试者在仅仅连续几天每天服用400至800个国际单位的维生素E之后,血液中一种名为低密度脂蛋白的胆固醇含量,就已降到了低于能够对动脉血管构成损害的水平以下,但胆固醇的代谢趋于正常。

  低密度脂蛋白在血液中氧化后会转化成一种有害化学物质,损伤动脉内壁上的细胞,同时还造成斑块的聚焦,使血管变硬。

  虽然早先其他研究显示维生素E和维生素C具有防止低密度脂蛋白氧化的作用,但明尼苏达的最新研究表明,只有通过维生素E的摄取才能获得这种对心脏血管的保护作用。同时,停止维生素E之后,相应的保护作用会很快消失。
