Reporter: Good morning, Ms. Dong. I know you have come all the way across the town to work here as a volunteer. How did you get here
Reporter: I know you have been helping an eight-year-old girl for the past few years. Could you tell us more about it
Reporter: She is lucky to have you helping her. Well, I know you are also paying regular visits to a nursing home for the elderly.
Reporter: Doing volunteer work, you have to put in a lot of time and care. What do you find so rewarding about this
Reporter: Thank you, Ms. Dong.

Ms. Dong: I got up at E o’clock. I would first take the bus and then shift to the subway, and spend altogether two hours on the road. In the morning, I would tell stories to kids at the orphanage and play games with them.
Ms. Dong: Her name is Xiaohong. She lost one leg during a traffic accident when she was only four. Her parents do not have stable income, so I helped her to get an artificial limb and made arrangement for her to go to school.
Ms. Dong: Yes. I mainly accompany those old people, chatting with them there. The elderly at the nursing home are mostly over seventies or eighties. They always like to mumble things of the past, things dozens of years ago, and keep on repeating the same words. But I would not interrupt them. As long as they are remembering, it is a good practice for the brain. It’s beneficial for them.
Ms. Dong: There are over B0 million volunteers in China at the moment. For me, doing voluntary work is more like a habit and a way of life than sacrifice. I’m full of joy whenever I work as a volunteer. The moment I step into the gate of the nursing home, I would see in the eyes of the old people that they are expecting me. What a wonderful feeling! I’m also surprised that such little things could fill me with so much happiness.
