  我们村东头有一口古井。井里的水清凉可口。村里的人都到这儿取水。古井像一位温情的母亲,用她甜美的乳汁哺育着她的儿女。

  古井离我们家才十来米远。每天从晨光熹微到暮色降临,取水的人络绎不绝地从我家门前走过,桶儿叮叮当当,扁担吱悠吱悠,像一支支快乐的乡间小曲。门前的路面湿漉漉的,老是像刚下过一场春雨似的。

  我们家的邻居是一对年过六旬的老人。男的是个老党员,在抗日战争时期腿负过伤,走路一瘸一拐的;女的身子很单薄,简直像一阵风能把她吹倒似的。老两口只有一个女儿,在外地教书。乡亲们见两位老人用水困难,这个帮着挑一担,那个帮着提一桶,老人的水缸总是满满的。两位老人多次表示要给帮他们挑水的人一些报酬,可是谁也不肯接受。
