有人送我一只草

       1971的夏天,我在美国伊利诺伊州立大学求学。

       不知是抵美的第几个日子了,我由一个应征事情的地方走回住处。那时候身上只剩下一点生活费,居留是大问题,找事没有着落,前途的茫然将步子压得很慢,穿过校园时,头是低着的。

      远远的草坪边半躺着一个金发青年,好似十分注意地在凝视着我。他看着我,我也知道,但没有抬头。他站起来了,仍在看我。他又蹲下去在草坪上拿了一样什么东西,于是这个人向我走来。

      步子跨得很大,轻轻地吹着他的口哨,不成腔调又愉快的曲子。

      不认识走过来的人,没有停步。

      一片影子挡住去路,那吹着口哨的青年,把右手举得高高的,手上捏着一枝碧绿的青草, 正向我微笑。 

    “来,给你!”他将小草当珍宝一样地递上来,我讶然地望着他,然后忍不住笑了起来。 “对,微笑,就这个样子。嗯!快乐些……”他轻轻地说。

       说完拍拍我的面颊,将我的头发很亲切地弄乱,眼神送过来一丝温柔的鼓励,又对我笑 了笑。

       然后,他双手插在口袋里,悠悠闲闲地走了。

      那是我到美国后第一次收到的礼物。

      小草,保留了许多年才找不到了,连名字都没有法子知道,他的脸在记忆中模糊了,可是直到现在,我没有法子忘记他。

      很多年过去了,常常觉得欠了这位陌生人一笔债,一笔可以归还的债,将信心和快乐传递给另外一些人类。将这份感激的心,化作一声道谢,一句轻微的赞美,一个笑容,一种鼓励的眼神——送给似曾相识的面容,那些在生命中擦肩而过的人。

       我喜爱生命,十分热爱它,只要生活中一些小事使我愉快,活下去的信念就更加热切,虽然是平凡的日子,活着仍是美妙的。这份能力,来自那枝小草的延伸,将这份债,不停地还下去,就是生存的快乐。
