Dear Steven,

I'm very glad to hear from you and I want to introduce to you the discussion we held on "Should we

learn English?" in our school.

In our school, some students think most of us have no opportunity to go abroad, so it's not necessary

to learn English. Besides, it takes us too much time to learn English, or we will have more time to learn other

subjects and relax.

Others don't agree. Firstly, English is used worldwide, for example, most international meetings use

English. Secondly, China's development can not be separated from the rest of the world, especially after

we joined the WTO. So we must learn English well.

Personally speaking, I think it necessary and important to learn English. Also remember "Nothing is

difficult if you put your heart into it."
