Commercial Advertisements and Public Service Advertisements

There are two basic types of advertisements-----commercial advertisements and public service advertisements.

They are similar in that they all appear in newspapers, magzines and on the Internet, the radio and the TV. What’s more, both of them use clever language and attractive pictures.

Apart from the similarities, there also exists differences between them in the following aspects.

Commercial advertisements are put to promote a product or service. They are not altogether innocent，for example, ‘Bright-Teeth fights bad breath.’ However, public service advertisements are to educate people about health, safety or any other problem that affects public welfare. They are helpful and we can learn a lot by following the advice they give, for example, ‘Knowledge changes life.’

In a word, when it comes to advertisements, we must all use our intelligence and not be a slave to them.

As far as I’m concerned, advertisements inform us of the latest products. We should treat advertisements wisely.
