How are you doing? Here I am in my dormitory, having had supper and having little to do. So I’d like to tell you about a traditional festival in China, Tomb-sweeping Day, just to help kill the time.
Tomb-sweeping Day of China, which falls on April 5th, has a history of several thousand years. From this day on, the temperature begins to climb, so this is a good time for spring ploughing.
On this day, people come to the tombs of their ancestors, carrying food and fruit to offer and also burn paper money and other articles which they think can be used by their loved ones in the other world. They decorate the tombs with new earth and fresh tree branches and kowtow before the tombs. Some people go for spring outings to enjoy the beautiful mountains and rivers; others hold various entertainment activities to make life more colorful.
