(2009年广东省湛江二中高三毕业班2月月考,IV读写任务)

阅读下面的短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

The generation gap between students and their teachers is becoming more significant with only 3.3 percent out of a survey group of 1,000 students from 30 key middle schools in the city saying they would be willing to tell their teachers of their inner thoughts.

In today’s educational environment, teachers are positioned to be the authority figure for learning instead of becoming good friends in the life of students.

As only students with good marks in exams are considered the “apples in the eyes” of the teachers, most students think their teachers to be partial(偏心).

“I feel sad to hear such remarks,” said Yu Yi, a well-known special-class teacher.

She recalled that in the past, teachers and students would play basketball together or comment on novels while sitting on the grass during a break. But today, study and good marks are the only topics of conversation between students and teachers.

“Schools are not only the place where knowledge is imparted(传授), but also where students are taught how to be an upright person,” Yu said. “The success of a person is not merely determined by intelligence but also by emotional state.”

Yang Xiong, director of the Juvenile Research Institute, said the educational system which focuses on examinations should be held to be substantially responsible.

答案

Love and Concern Make an Ideal Relationship

Students are becoming unwilling to confess to their teachers because they are not equal in position and teachers lay too much emphasis on the academic performances of the students.

While some students might have doubts, I am willing to share my inner thoughts with my teachers. They show love and concern for their students and are good listeners. I always find it easy to seek support and advice from them, from which I benefit and learn a lot.

In this case, an ideal relationship between teachers and students is very important. In my opinion, this relationship should be one filled with love, care and understanding, in which teachers and students show respect for each other and exchange ideas freely. To build a relationship of this kind , teachers should become friends of students while students ought to place more trust in their teachers and give voice to their feelings frankly. Only by joint efforts can we enjoy a warm relationship between teachers and students.

In my thirty years as a Time Management speaker, I have observed a lot of what we can and should

not do to increase our daily result. Time Management is not necessarily working harder, but quicker and

smarter. Sometimes our mistakes will keep us from running at a full pace. Here are the top four Time

Management mistakes we should all avoid to help us to increase our daily success.

a). Start your day without a plan of action. If so, you will have worked hard but may not have done

enough of right things. Time Management is not doing the wrong things quicker. Time Management is

doing the right things.

b). Work with a messy(杂乱的) desk or work areas. Studies have shown that the person who works with a messy desk spends one and a half hours per day looking for things. If you have ever visited the

office of a top manager, who is working with a clean desk environment, you will find that the manager

works effectively(有效地).

c). Don't get enough sleep. Studies show that nearly 75% of us complain on a regular basis, all

throughout our days, that we are tired. For most people, they get the quantity of sleep, but they lack the

quality of sleep. Their days are filled with so much stress that they are out of control, working harder but

maybe not smarter, that it's difficult to get a full night's sleep.

d). Don't take a lunch break. Many do not take a lunch break, working through that period in the

hopes that it will give them more time to produce results. Studies have shown it may work just the

opposite. After doing what we do for several hours, we start to feel tired. A lunch break, even short,

gives us a chance to get our energy back again.
