Everyone has a particular object to which they attach a special meaning or story. Every Object Tells A (1) is a participative website that enables people to explore the stories and meanings behind collections of museum objects.   水是会“说话”的。听听水的声音,可以判断水的状况。你不妨试一试:把满满的一瓶子水倒出来,听!水在噗噗作响,它在告诉你:“我出来啦!”用墨水瓶、暖水瓶做这个实验,它们发出的声音是不同的。

  这个原理很简单,因为水流出来的时候,空气要从瓶口挤过去,那一个个气泡钻出水面时,会因为压力变小而猛一下子膨胀,发出冲击,水就这样“说话”了。

  把水壶坐在火炉上,当水壶发出叫声的时候,水还没有开。等水真正沸腾的时候,叫声不是那样响了。“开水不响,响水不开”,水壶里的声音为什么能报告壶里的情况呢?

  坐在火炉上的水壶,壶底的水最先热起来,于是那里就产生了气泡。这些气泡很热,也很轻,便在浮力的作用下,升到了上边的冷水层。热气泡在冷水层放出了大量的热,它的温度降了下来,好像泄了气的皮球,抵挡不住水的压力,就被水给压破了。气泡破裂时会发出响声,水壶便“鸣”叫了起来。水在沸腾的时候,气泡一个接一个地钻出水面冲到空气里,很少有在水里破裂的,这时水的声音就变成“哗啦”“哗啦”了。

  人被烫着会喊叫,水挨烫时也要“尖叫”呢!把几滴冷水滴在火红的炉盖上,听!它咝咝地尖叫了。烧水做饭时,我们常常会听到这种声音。

  水当然没有知觉,它挨烫时的“尖叫”是由于它在急速地变成汽。炉盖或红煤球的温度都很高,水滴到上面马上就变成了水蒸气,一滴水要变为汽,体积大约要膨胀1500倍,这一涨,就像小炸弹爆炸,发出了声音。

  提一壶冷水,向地面上倒一点,你听到的是清脆的噼啪声;提一壶开水,同样向地面上倒一点,听!它发出了低沉的波波声。为什么冷水和开水声调不同呢?这跟水的温度有关系,当水温在100℃左右时,水不断地变成汽,开水四周包围着这层汽,好像裹着一层线毯,落到地上声调也就低沉多了,冷水落到地面上,没有气垫的缓冲作用,声音也就变得清脆 了。这正像掉在地面上的钢球能发出清脆的声音,掉在棉被上的钢球只会发出一点儿声响一样。
