我回去的时候,父亲正在老家的院坝里发呆。

几根倾斜的柱子,让人不敢多看。见我回来,父亲突然来了精神。但这样的神色仅在父亲脸上存留了几秒,便逝去了。

我理解父亲的苦处,祖辈留下的老房子,在父亲眼里,该是何等的重要啊。不是为了守它,父亲或许早就随我们进城了。多年来,父亲都以看守祖辈留下来的老房子为由,单独在老家生活。这次,我在心里暗喜,或许这是个绝好的机会吧。

父亲说,我找你三表叔看过了,这房子还可以修好。我心里一惊!三表叔在老家有点名气,全村大部分旧房子都是他带领人修建的,他的话,父亲会信的。

我看了看父亲,没作言语。我说,我先去转转。

逃过父亲的视线后,我转向朝三表叔的家走去。我必须尽力说服他,让他阻止父亲再修整旧房。不然,父亲余下的时光,还将在老家度过。

没想到,曾经受过我的无数恩惠的三表叔,居然拒绝了我!三表叔说,没办法啊,侄子,你爹那脾气,没办法啊。

回去之后,父亲说,我准备今天开始修整房子了。你帮我做做下手吧。说完,父亲便开始在院坝边调泥巴了,父亲的身板大不如以前了,他每和一下泥,都能看出力不从心。

我颓然地坐在了老家的院坝边。回想起来,我已经20多年没做过农村的体力活了,看到这些心里就发怵。

我走到房屋拐角处拿出手机,给在老家镇上当镇长的同学打电话搬救兵。同学告诉我,我们家是前几天就定下的重灾户,志愿者下午就可以到。

没想到,当父亲知道我搬救兵的事后,突然大怒。他说,你不愿意修就算了,搬救兵,你这不是给政府添乱么?!昨天,你那个镇长同学已经派人来过了,我没有答应。就这么点事,还搬救兵?像青川那些重灾区的人,不是要去天上搬救兵吗?亏你这么多年在外面工作,遇到点小事咋就不晓得个轻重缓急?

说完,父亲又开始忙活了。我独自无语。我想,等下午人到了,父亲也就不会再拒绝了。

下午,同学带着几个人,还带来了方便面、被褥等救灾物资。父亲看见他们,脸刷的一下就白了,少顷,又满脸通红。父亲像个做错了事的孩子,头埋得很低,我明显感觉到了他的手足无措。

父亲将大家让座到院坝里,进屋去拿出了一包皱巴巴的红塔山烟,给大家散了。而后又爬上园子里的梨树,采摘了一篮早熟的黄皮梨。没想到,父亲此时的身手,会那样的敏捷!我在心里长长地舒了口气!

就是像你想到的那样,就是像你想到的那样,父亲拒绝了所有人,拒绝了所有救灾物质。

我满面愧疚地向大家道歉,同学说,你父亲,我们理解,多年前,他就是全市的优秀 * * 党员,这样的大事面前,他这样的老干部高风亮节,也属正常!你可能不知道吧,就在几个月前四川汶川发生8.0级特大地震后的第二天,你父亲就向灾区捐款1 300多元,还说如果他还年轻20岁就一定要去当志愿者,我们没办法啊,8月30日地震发生后他与村干部们一道吃住在现场,帮助乡亲们进行生产自救。你看,几天来他肩上和手上的伤,就是救灾时弄的。

我回屋取了把锄头,默默地与父亲一起和泥。

父亲长时间地盯着我,抬头看时,他满面微笑,我还看见,他眼里有泪花闪动。

We find that bright children are seldom held back by mixed-ability teaching. On the contrary, both their knowledge and experience are enriched. We encourage our pupils to use the library, and we teach them the skills they need in order to do this well. An advanced pupil can do advanced work and it does not matter what age the child is.
