爬山虎

  ①地锦,俗名爬山虎,我与他有着一段不解之缘。

  ②那一年夏天我患脑血管病住进医院,生命虽无危险,但恢复期间的行走锻炼却是不胜其苦伤的。医院内有一个草木蓊郁的花园,园的四周有上部开着花格子窗的矮围墙。在开头那些忧伤灰暗的日子里,我每天抱着病恹恹的身子,腋下拄着拐杖,绕着围墙根艰难而缓慢地行走。

  ③有一天,我刚走不多远,便靠着路旁一棵梧桐树歇息,感到再难迈出一步。这时我无意中向围墙根投去一眼,只见一株细小的爬山虎爬在墙根上,绿绿的,虎虎有生气。忽然对它产生了一种不同往常的亲近感。我第一次如此地凝视它。这才发现,它的绿莹莹的枝蔓上长有卷须,卷须先端发育成小有吸盘,爬上墙壁后分泌黏液死死地吸附壁上,植株借以顽强地向前生长。这使我从爬山虎的身上分明读到一片炽热的情感,倾听到一种向前趱(快走)行的呼唤。

  ④这以后,我与爬山虎成了朝夕相伴的朋友。 在围墙外拄拐绕行,它在围墙上攒劲前行。无论草露未干的清晨,归鸟啁啾的黄昏,还是月光如水的静夜,我绕行时总是在爬山虎前长久地伫立,和它作无言的亲近之谈,后来竟至有“一日不见,如三秋兮”之感。尽管那年夏天酷暑难当,它却于热浪滚滚之时咬住砖墙一步一步往上蹿,出落得枝叶茂盛,绿茸茸地爱煞人。

  ⑤一日,几个顽皮孩子在围墙根“藏猫猫”,恶作剧似的将爬山虎的枝蔓从墙壁上拉下来。当我发现悲惨地跌落地上的爬山虎的时候,我想我的无言的朋友这回大概是完了。我扶着墙艰难地蹲下身去把它托起,将它的卷须上的被损伤了的吸盘重新摁附在墙上,将被弄得零乱不堪重新理顺。渐合的暮色中,我怅然回到病室。第二红霞初露时,我来到它身边,竟发现它的吸盘又不屈不挠地紧紧咬住了墙壁,它的叶子又那么鲜活亮丽,它的虎虎有生气的卷须又在锐不可当地向前伸展。好样的!朋友。

  ⑥渐渐地,夏老了,夏去了,秋来了,秋深了。我终于丢掉了拐杖,爬山虎也爬到了一人多高,覆盖在花格子砖窗上了。出院时,我和家人特意去同这无言的朋友告别,它的时子已经霜变红,耀如燃烧的火焰,真正成了大地上的锦绣。
