男孩的十四岁(20分)

①男孩终于鼓起勇气向父亲坦白了自己的想法:“我要退学,我一天都不想在教室里待了,我一进学校就烦!”

②男孩想,父亲会揍他一顿,至少会骂他个狗血淋头。奇怪的是,父亲非但没有揍他,甚至连骂都没骂一声。父亲只是靠着门框蹲着抽烟,一支接一支,弄得满屋烟雾弥漫,如同战争打完硝烟弥漫的战场,宁静而可怕。

③终于,父亲吐出一口烟雾,重重的说了声“好吧”,然后就上床睡觉了。简短而有力的话语,如一块石头在男孩的心窝上砸了一个坑。男孩知道,父亲默许了,默许的很沉重,让男孩想反悔都返回不起。

④尽管如此,男孩还是很庆幸,少年的恐惧是很快就会被胜利的喜悦冲淡的,终于不上学啦,不用早起啦,男孩想。但男孩想错了,第二天天刚亮,父亲便喊男孩起床。出门前,将男孩母亲平时用的锄递给男孩说:“你不上学啦,以后就别让你娘下田啦。”

⑤那时,麦子刚收割完,天气干燥,田里极旱。父亲说:“锄第一遍麦茬地很关键,锄好了整个夏天都不会长草。”于是,男孩便跟着父亲的背后锄地。不干活时男孩怎么也不会想到,麦茬地比柏油路还硬,不动脑筋的活并不好干。第一天下午收工,男孩手上磨出了好几个晶莹剔透的水泡,手心像是着了火,生疼。第二天下午收工,男孩的双手已经麻木。夜里一觉醒来,手皮发紧,手腕发酸,连拳头都不住了。

⑥第三天早起,男孩伸出肿胀的双手让父亲看,希望能引起父亲同情放自己一天假,哪怕不放假夸自己一声也好。但父亲看了看说:“刚开始干农活都这样,慢慢就好了。”父亲将“农活”二字咬得很硬,目光像钉子,声音如冰雹,冷漠而坚定。 母亲在一旁看着这一切,想上前说话,但她观察了好几次父亲的脸,终于没有说出来。

⑦第一遍地锄完了。男孩想,终于可以松口气啦。可是丢下饭碗的父亲抬起头看了看西边的红霞说:“准备浇地吧,看来一段时间天不会下雨啦。”

⑧天旱河水也紧缺,河经常断流。白天浇不完,夜里不得不睡在河边等水。男孩迷糊着惺忪的睡眼来到西边地头,离地头不远处有一座坟,坟上堆着干燥的麦茬。月光皎洁,水流泛动着月光,离坟还很远。男孩便坐在坟上等水,等着等着不知不觉就躺下了,连日的疲劳铺天盖地地袭向男孩……当夜,男孩病倒了,发高烧,说胡话。

⑨第二天醒来时,母亲坐在床边抓着男孩起泡的手流泪。见男孩醒了,母亲说:“你昨夜发高烧,不停地说胡话,说什么我明天还要上学,娘你早点喊醒我,别让我迟到…..”

(10)男孩一听,大哭起来。其实,男孩几天前就后悔了。饭桌上,父亲说,想上学可是你自己说的,要上就得上出个名堂,不准再打退堂鼓。这一次,父亲的话多了点,声音沉重而坚定,不容商量。

(11)两年后,男孩考上了县里的高中。三年后,男孩考上了大学。临走前一天的晚上,一家人坐在饭桌旁说闲话,无意中又提到这件事,母亲说:“你爹的心真硬。”
