我的漫画生涯

华君武

  我开始学漫画是在我初中一年级的时候,大概是在1928年。我画了一群学生在打防疫针。没想到这幅画居然被我们学校的校刊编辑看中了,于是就刊登在校刊上面了。这是我刊登在刊物上的第一张漫画。

  后来我更加喜欢漫画了。我学到一首汉乐府诗,里面的第一句是:“江南可采莲,莲叶何田田。”我就把它画了出来。这幅画被浙江日报刊登出来了,这对我来说是一个很大的鼓励。从此以后我就开始拼命地画漫画。

  当初,我画了很多漫画,大概有两百张,寄给报馆,可就是登不出来。尽管这样,我还是继续画。假如我当时放弃不画了,我现在也不会坐在这里谈漫画了。那时的上海有我们漫画界的老前辈:丰子恺、叶浅予等老师。在画漫画方面,我只是一个刚刚进门的“小伙计”,就向他们学习。我那时也不知道有什么“创造性”不“创造性”的,总觉得赶不上他们。因此我就想了一个办法,我在我的漫画里面画很多的人。我一幅画里可以画几百人。当时我的画虽然画得比较糟糕,但是人家知道,有个画大场面漫画的华君武。

  我为什么来强调这个事情呢?就是现在我们画漫画的青年人,不想“创造性”的问题。我认为,别人没有画过的东西,你来画,这叫创作。假如你总跟着人家屁股后面走,那么就一辈子也没有你自己的东西,原因就在于你没有创造性。比方说齐白石,他是有创造性的大画家。我们进城的时候就听说北京有“东城齐白石”、“南城齐白石”、 “西城齐白石”,他们都是齐白石的学生,画来画去都像齐白石,谁也没有超过他。漫画也是这样,你要跟着谁画,永远跟在他后头,那何必称为“创作”呢?叫“跟作”就行了。我觉得搞漫画创作就要真的进行创作,要有属于自己的、与别人不同的东西。

  最后我想讲漫画创作上的一个问题。大家知道漫画要变形、要夸张,把人画得越夸张、越丑,好像就越好,其实不是这样。过去有人把人画得很丑,所以有些女同志就不喜欢让人家给她画漫画像。当然对敌人画的丑一点没有关系,对我们自己人,我觉得画丑不大好。我画漫画不是夸张一个人的丑,而是夸张他有趣的东西。画漫画并不都是专门把人弄丑的。漫画像不能过于变形和丑化,如果过于丑化,那么被画的人就不容易接受。

Creative Writing
