  ①当人们想到能源时,脑海中总是出现燃烧和火焰,而把冰块看作是与之风马牛不相及的事物。但是今天,科学家却发现一种在特定低温高压条件下形成并稳定存在,广泛发育在浅海底层沉积物、深海大陆斜坡沉积地层和高纬度极地地区永久冻土层中的天然气水合物--一种似冰状的白色固体物质,因全有大量甲烷而可燃,所以也被称为“可燃冰”。  

  ②可燃冰是天然气(甲烷类)被包进水分子中,在海底低温与压力下结晶形成的。形成可燃冰有三个基本条件。首先,可燃冰在零度以上可以生成,超过20摄氏度便要分解,而海底的温度一般都在2—4摄氏度;其次,可燃冰在零度时,只需30个大气压以上就可能生成,而以海洋的深度,30个大气压很容易保证,并且压力越大,水合物就越不容易分解,就越稳定;最后,海底的有机物沉淀,其中富含的碳经过生物转化,可形成充足的甲烷气源。海底的地层是多孔介质,在温度、压力和气源三者具备的条件下,便会在介质的空隙中生成可燃冰的晶体。  

  ③可燃冰是1972年由前苏联科学家在北极圈内首次发现并确认的。随着美俄科学家不断地探测,到目前为止,估计全球可燃冰储藏量高达石化燃料储藏量的2倍,勘探出的储藏地区包括30个海洋储藏地和8个大陆储藏地。今天,科学家已把开发和商业利用可燃冰作为研究目标。  

  ④据科学家测算,1立方米的可燃冰,在常温常压下可释放164立方米甲烷气体和0.8立方米的淡水。甲烷是人们可以用来燃烧发电的可燃气体,而且燃烧后几乎不产生任何污染物质。可燃冰将成为2l世纪极具潜势的洁净新能源。

  ⑤要使可燃冰早日造福于人类,关键是要找出安全有效的开采方法。目前考虑的开采方案有几种:热解法和降压法,两者分别利用可燃冰温度高和压力低时即分解的特性,使其由固态分解出甲烷气体;还有科学家提出将核废料埋入地底,利用核辐射效应使其分解。另外还有一个新的设想,即“置换法”。研究证实,将液化的二氧化碳注入1500米以下的海水中,就会生成二氧化碳水合物,它的比重比海水大,于是就会沉入海底。据此研究结果,如果将二氧化碳注射入海底的可燃冰储层,二氧化碳较之甲烷易于形成水合物,因而就可能将水合物中的甲烷分子“挤走”,从而将其置换出来。但这些方法都面临着一个如何收集甲烷气体的问题。同时,甲烷气体是对环境破坏作用最大的温室气体之一,而且可燃冰的开采还可能会造成大陆架边缘动荡,引发海底塌方并导致灾难性的海啸,所以,可燃冰的开发利用还面临着种种难题。但我们相信,随着人类对可燃冰研究的不断深入,这些难题一定会在不久的将来得到解决。

Gao Yuan will spend his holiday far away from his parents. From August 10, the 15-year-old boy and
