度一个创造的人生

       ①如果要用一个词来概括人类精神生活的特征,那么,最合适的词便是这个词——创造。

       ②所谓创造,未必是指发明某种新技术,也未必是指从事艺术的创作,这些仅是创造的若干具体形态罢了。创造的含义要深刻得多,范围也要广泛得多。人之区别于动物就在于人有一个灵魂,灵魂使人不能满足于动物式的生存,而要追求高出于生存的价值,由此展开了人的精神生活。大自然所赋予人的只是生存,因而,人所从事的超出生存以上的活动都是给大自然的安排增添了一点新东西,无不具有创造的性质。这样的活动当然不是肉体(它只要求生存) ,而是灵魂发动的。正是在创造中,人用行动实现着对真、善、美的追求,把自己内心所珍爱的价值变成可以看见和感觉的对象。

       ③由此可见,决定一种活动是否具有创造性的关键在于有无灵魂的真正参与。一个画匠画了一幅毫无灵感的画,一个学究写了一本人云亦云的书,他们都不是在创造。相反,如果你真正陶醉于一片风景、一首诗、一段乐曲的美,如果你对某个问题形成了你的独特的见解,那么你就是在创造。

       ④许多哲学家都曾强调劳作与创造的区别,前者是非精神性的,后者是精神性的。在这方面,马克思的看法也许仍是最有启发意义的。他认为,人的本性是更喜欢从事自由的创造活动的,因为人在这种活动中能够充分实现自己的能力和价值,从而获得精神上的享受。然而,为了生存,人又必须从事生产活动。因此,我们把我们的时间划分为必要劳动时间和自由时间。一个理想的社会应当把必要劳动时间缩短到最低限度,以便为每个人从事创造活动腾出充足的自由时间。这个道理对于个人也是适用的。一个人只是为谋生或赚钱而从事的活动都属于劳作,而他出于自己的真兴趣和真性情从事的活动则属于创造。劳作仅能带来外在的利益,唯创造才能获得心灵的快乐。但外在的利益是一种很实在的诱惑,往往会诱使人们无休止地劳作,竟至于一辈子体会不到创造的乐趣。在我看来,创造在生活中所占的比重,乃是衡量一个人的生活质量的主要标准。

       ⑤真正的创造是不计较结果的,它是一个人的内在力量自然而然的实现,本身即是享受。有一位夫人曾督促罗曼·罗兰抓紧写作,快出成果,罗曼·罗兰回答说:“一棵树不会太关心它结的果实,它只是在它生命汁液的欢乐流溢中自然生长,而只要它的种子是好的,它的根扎在沃土,它必将结好的果实。”我非常欣赏这个回答。(只要你的心灵是活泼的、敏锐的,只要你听从这心灵的吩咐,去做能真正使它快乐的事,那么,不论你终于做成了什么事,也不论社会对你的成绩怎样评价,)你都是度了一个有意义的创造的人生。
