The Japanese may be the most polite (礼貌的) people in the world. In Japan, everyone spends a lot

of time saying "please", "thank you" and "sorry". Sometimes it takes a long time to say something very

easy, such as "You are standing on my foot." Just saying "sorry" makes Japanese people feel good. The

Japanese are very polite and they don't have a word for "no" in their language. Japanese people don't just

use words when they meet. They also bow. The lower they bow, the more polite they are. Last week,

an American sports reporter went to a Tokyo baseball match. "At the end of the game, all the players,

even the losing (失败的) team, bow towards (向) the playground," wrote the reporter. "That's such a

strange thing. I believe you can only find it in Japan."

But it seems (似乎) that the Japanese bow only to the Japanese. They shake hands (握手) with

Chinese, Americans and people from other countries. It would be interesting if a foreigner wants to bow

like Japanese but his Japanese friend holds out his hand.
